Martin Luther's Small Catechism of 1529 in R.E. Smith's translation: the Ten Commandments, the Creed, the Lord's Prayer, the sacraments, and the table of duties, each explained in a few plain sentences for teaching at home. Luther wrote it after church visitations in Saxony showed how little the congregations knew.
